Day 1 in Iran
We got here about, 3:30AM on Friday morning here, which is basically the Sabbath Day here. It took a while
to go through customs and to get our luggage and finally get out. We didn't get out of the airport till about 5:30-6.
We went outside to get a cab so we can go to Esfahan, which is where my Aunt and Uncle were (We were in Tehran, the Capital
City). We got into the cab, and the cab driver was very nice. We drove and it took about 3-4 hours to get to Esfahan.
During the drive, there were SO many mountains and just plains. It was really pretty and totally new to see haha. I slept
as much as I could because I was EXHAUSTED with all of the flying. I slept maybe more than half of the driving trip. We stopped
once to get something to drink. Let me tell you...actually, i'll get started talking about the traffic later haha.
We finally arrived at my Aunt and Uncle's house. It was really sweet, we got out of the car and 2 of my cousins and their
children came outside and drowned us with hugs and kisses! My cousin Muzchgan(sp?) came up to me and said in English
"I have never met you before, but I love you!" It made my day haha. We went inside and put our stuff up (did I mention
that this apartment has an elevator??) and we sit down and my dad and everyone start talking. I got some tea and this
AMAZING cherry juice. Then, my cousins wanted to play Spades, which I had no idea how...but I learned haha. I think they
were getting frustrated with me a bit, but I tried! Doing that while tired is very complicated..just sayin'. They all
noticed how tired I was, so they let me go to sleep. I slept for about 6 hours, my dad told me. I felt bad that I came, hung
out for a bit, and then slept for so long, lol. I was tired though! So I woke up, and ate the lunch that I missed because I was
so sleepy. It was SO good. Mmmmm :) I love Iranian food, it has a different taste to it, and it's SO good! I sat there and
listened to everyone talk, then we went and watched the World Cup. We felt like going out, so we went for a drive and got
some ice cream
Now, I talk about the traffic. Oh. My. Goodness. That's all I have to say. It's HECTIC! I am so glad my dad said I
don't have to drive here. Seriously, it's the scariest thing ever. People cut people off, they don't stay in their own lanes,
there are little motorcycle type things cutting people off, everyone hits everyone, people cross the street at very
inappropriate times, it's crazy. I was getting so nervous in the backseat while we were driving. There was this one poophead
that actually tapped the back of our car and I was like WHAT the heak...of course I thought that in my head. If we were in
America, I would have SUED his butt haha.
While we were driving around, we passed a lot of nice parks by this river and bridge. It looked absolutely stunning at night.
There were a lot of people eating at that time, because it's Friday. It was gorgeous though, I can't wait to have dinner there.
It's so neat, there were little market things everywhere! Fruit, clothes, etc. It's really cool how much style the women have here.
I canNOT wait to go forreal shopping. I could totally start a trend at home if I wanted to ;). We got some ice cream, I think I
already said that. The ice cream tasted like this one candy that they have here, except it has pistachios in it...I hate pistachios.
The ice cream didn't have any, and it was pretty good! Their ice cream is very creamy and sweet. They put honey at the top of it
and that was interesting. Also another thing I noticed, is they don't have trashcans. You put your trash on the side and there
is apparently a cleaning crew that comes and cleans. I couldn't do that haha. I felt bad leaving the trash on the side.
Now, we're all sitting down, drinking tea, eating fruit, and they're talking. It's kinda frustrating a bit whenever they're talking
and I don't understand. I wish I learned whenever I was younger. Sometimes, I hear my name, and I am like huhhh? It's craycray.
So I am going to go ahead and end this note. I'll write day by day, if I can :)
Shayda :)
